Untamed Shifter Love a collection of short stories by 5 authors.

Untamed Shifter Love has 5 great short stories from different authors all about shifters finding their mates. Ashlynn Monore graciously gave me a copy of this one to review, and I really enjoyed all of the stories. This is a great collection if you’re looking to dip your toe into the world of shifter romances, or if you’re just looking for a quick read.

For each short story I’ll add the description, and and then links to the author that wrote the story. My review will be at the end. 🙂

My Review

All five of these shifter romances were great. The only author out of the five that I have read other books from is Ashlynn Monroe. All the rest are new to me authors. The stories were all quick and easy reads. My favorite two stories out of these five were definitely Moonlight by Ashlynn Monroe, and The Hunter by Olivia Starke.

Moonlight was about Kane and Josslyn, who are from Ashlynn’s Moonlight series, and this story was kind of a prequel to that series. I really hope she makes a full book out of this story because it would be great! There was lots of action, the romance was sweet, and I really loved it. It was nice to see Kane’s character when he was younger and in love.

The hunter was great. It was a story about the hunter falling in love with the hunted. In this shifter romance, werewolves can’t control themselves once they turn into one. They are full of bloodlust and just want to kill. Can love for Mike keep Trinity from becoming the monster she was created to be? I really wish this one had been longer or could be turned into a full book, because I loved these characters. I will definitely have to check out more from this author!

Lord of the Hunt was my next favorite. It was set in an earlier era, and the shifters turned into wolves. I loved the backstory of how a witch put a curse on the family and that is why they can shift to wolves. The twist with Alena at the end was awesome, and I really enjoyed it! This is another author I will have to look into.

William’s Warrior and Mouse and the Bounty Hunter were good. William’s Warrior was about a dragon shifter girl whose parents shielded her and kept her hidden away her whole life to protect her because she is so small for a dragon shifter. When she finally runs away to gain freedom for herself she finds William. I loved the nickname of “Little Warrior” that William gives her. She’s definitely feisty and independent which I loved. It was definitely interesting. Mouse and the Bounty Hunter is about a human girl that gets mistaken for a mouse shifter because her nickname is mouse.

The one thing I thought was great about this collection is all 5 stories have a different take on what shifters are or can do or how they came to be. One was where the world just consists of werewolf shifters, where the wolves were bloodthirsty and only looking to kill. Another the humans became wolves because of a curse. One was in a world where there is only wolf shifters, but they have thoughts and emotions and can control their wolves, and another was about dragon shifters living in a world with other animal shifters. All in all a great mix!

All in all these were 5 great short stories, and it’s a great collection for anyone wanting a few quick reads, or is just wanting to dip a toe into the world of shifter romances (do it….. you’ll fall for the genre 😉

Depths of Salvation by Molly E. Lee

So, if you haven’t figured it out yet, Molly Lee is one of my favorite authors. Her writing style paired with the intense adventure throughout her books really hooked me, and I can’t get enough of her stories. This was probably my favorite one of Molly’s books so far! I fell in love with Connell and Sadie, and the deep sea diving theme of the book was just amazing!

Book Description

Sadie Jenkins’ most recent site of preservation is a sunken WWII cargo ship off the coast of the Bahamas. When a giant corporation threatens to blow it up to make way for an underwater gas pipeline, Sadie is forced to prove to the Head of Government the importance and value of her site. And when assistance comes from a bad-boy welder who works for the corporation, she ends up battling not only the people trying to demolish her site, but her heart as well—because its latched on to the one man who can save her ship or destroy it.

Connell Murphey is the best underwater welder this side of the Atlantic and thrives when the stakes are highest. When Slade Industries offers him a dangerous gig with a big pay off, he can’t wait to sign on. When a local marine preservationist gives Slade trouble—her site’s protection would cost him millions to go around it instead of through it—Slade offers Connell the deal of a lifetime: twelve million has his name on it if he gets close to Sadie and testifies to the Head of Government that her site isn’t worth saving. Should be easy money.

That is, until he meets Sadie. She’s a force to be reckoned with and the only woman who has ever been able to not only keep pace with him on a dive but completely surpass him on every level. She’s smart, sexy, and their chemistry is off the charts. The more he gets to know her, the harder he falls but he’s already in too deep with the deal he made with Slade.

When the time comes, will he be able to turn down the money and choose the girl of his dreams, or will too many lies kill his only chance at forever?

My Review

I seriously think that this was my favorite book of Molly’s so far! Not only did I love the relationship that formed between Connell and Sadie, but I absolutely loved the deep sea diving scenes and the detail that was put into describing everything about being underwater and the World War II cargo ship, the Falconer. It was like I could see everything that was described and it played out like a movie! You could tell the amount of research and love put into this book and all of the details.

Connell and Sadie have definitely become my favorite couple of the series so far. I love Blake and Dash, and Easton and Rain, but there was just something about Connell and Sadie that just drew me into their book and I just loved it! I think it’s because Connell is broody and closed off, and I love those types of characters that have to be drawn out from behind their walls. Sadie slowly worked her way under his skin, and finally showed him he didn’t have to close himself off after what happened in his past.

The plot was fast paced, and the diving scenes were amazing. I think that might have been another reason why this one was my favorite. The underwater descriptions of the plant life, and the cargo ship painted a beautiful setting, and I felt like I could see it play like a movie in my head because the details were all there!

Seriously, you need to pick up this book, actually no, the entire series, because it’s unique and probably the best adventure romance series out there!

Trucker by Jamie Schlosser

I found this book through the One Click Addict’s Facebook page. It was up in their freebie posts last week, so I checked it out and grabbed it off of Amazon. I’m glad I did because I loved it! Last week I just got done with reviewing books for Madtown Author Daze, and so this was my first book in awhile that was a personal read 😉 If you’re looking or a sweet romance, this is it! I know I’ll be grabbing the rest of the series! *It was free when I grabbed it off of Amazon, but it’s now .99 or free if you have Kindle Unlimited 🙂 Definitely worth the 99 pennies!

Book Description

I know what you’re whispering in the car as you pass me by.
When you see me walking along the side of the road with my thumb out, you’ll probably keep driving without giving me a second glance. You probably think I’m foolish. Naïve.
You might assume I’ve made some bad decisions.
You might think I’m too young to be on my own.
You might be right.
I love my job, but driving an eighteen-wheeler comes with a certain stereotype. When you hear I’m a trucker, a specific image might come to mind. Uneducated. Dirty. Perverted. Rough around the edges and a little bit dangerous.
But the truth is, I’m not any of those things. In fact, I’m pretty far from it.
You’d be surprised to find out I’m one of the good guys.

My Review

This was a really sweet book. The characters were cute, and the story line was unique. It was a quick read that I definitely enjoyed.

Travis is a truck driver, and when he’s on the road making a delivery he finds Angel hitchhiking outside of a truck stop. He just can’t pull away and leave her there, so he offers her a ride. When he finds out why Angel is out on the highway he offers to let her stay with him for a few weeks until he makes a delivery out in California, where she is trying to get to.

It was a story about falling in love for the first time and experiencing those first love feelings you know we all had back in our high school days 😉 At some points the plot was a little overly sweet, and a little cheesy, but that’s what I loved about it. Sometimes you just need one of those adorably sweet romances.

Travis was a great character, and I loved the romantic build up between him and Angel. The side characters were great too. Beverly, the little old lady who cussed up a storm, Ernie, the little old man that made balloon animals. It was just all around a sweet book.

If you love sweet romances with a unique twist, look no further! 🙂

East of Redemption by Molly E. Lee

So, if you don’t know already Molly Lee is one of my favorite authors. Her adventure romance series is seriously the best out there. I haven’t read anything close to comparison yet. Her character development, scene set up, and setting descriptions make you feel like you are IN the book alongside the characters. You really need to read these books because they won’t disappoint!

Book Description

Easton Wells has spent years burying his guilt by digging up some of the world’s most renowned treasures while surviving the dangerous terrains in which they’re located—all captured for television. When his producers threaten to axe the show, he has no choice but to turn to the last person he still trusts—the girl he left behind.

Rain Walker has made a name for herself documenting wild and endangered animals, and the last voice she expects to hear while shooting in South Africa is Easton’s. He’s more gorgeous than she remembers, but the pain in her heart is as fresh as ever. They’d once planned on spending the rest of their lives together, but after her father’s tragic death while on expedition in Israel with him, Easton bailed on their future together without an explanation. It’s been nine years, and yet the intense love they shared seems only a moment ago.

When he asks her to film his latest treasure hunt, Rain wants to turn him down instantly. But when he explains it’s to the same cave that swallowed her father, she can’t say no. She wants to experience the last place her father was alive, and she’s beyond curious about what happened to the boy she used to love.

They’ve got two weeks to locate a treasure that’s been lost for centuries, or Easton will lose the one thing in his life he’s come to depend on. As their old passion is reignited—and dark secrets uncovered—they face the extreme terrain of the mountain range that threatens them at every turn. As more than the wildlife and sharp drop-offs tries to kill them, Rain starts to question if the legendary treasure they seek—the same one her father had died trying to unearth—is truly meant to be found, or if some things, including their feelings for each other, are better left buried.

My Review

I fell in love with Molly Lee’s adventurous writing style when I first read Edge of Chaos, and she blew that out of the water with East of Redemption. This book had a little bit of everything. Adventure, danger, survival, treasure hunting, and romance all rolled into one. It was like Indiana Jones meets contemporary romance! I loved it!

The thing I think I love most about these books, is that Molly writes such a strong female heroine. Rain is a nature photographer that braves the wild to get pictures of animals in their natural habitats all over the world. When she pairs up with Easton to save his career they both use their survival skills to look for King Solomon’s Treasure in a cave in Israel.

The book was fast paced, and the character development was complex and and intriguing. The whole back story of Rain’s father/Easton’s mentor was sad, yet a great set up for the plot of the book. The emotions that Easton is dealing with and the guilt he felt over what happened flowed through the pages, and you could really connect to what he was going through. When he finally reconnects with Rain you can see how much he cares for her yet doesn’t think he deserves her forgiveness for what he did. The emotions just tugged on my heartstrings and I loved these characters.

Seriously, I couldn’t put this book down. This series is fantastic, and one that I will read over and over again! Highly recommend this one!

A Charmed Little Lie by Sharla Lovelace

I first discovered Sharla Lovelace by her Heart of the Storm series! They hooked me in, and when I saw she had a new book coming out I had to grab it!

Add Charmed Little Lie to your Goodreads  Get it on Amazon

Book Description

Charmed, Texas… quaint, quirky, and when it comes to romance, there’s no place quite as enchanting.

Lanie Barrett didn’t mean to lie. Spinning a story of a joyous marriage to make a dying woman happy is forgivable, isn’t it? Lanie thinks so, especially since her beloved Aunt Ruby would have been heartbroken to know the truth of her niece’s sadly loveless, short-of-sparkling existence. Trouble is, according to the will, Ruby didn’t quite buy Lanie’s tale. And to inherit the only house Lanie ever really considered a home, she’ll have to bring her “husband” back to Charmed for three whole months–or watch Aunt Ruby’s cozy nest go to her weasel cousin, who will sell it to a condo developer.

Nick McKane is out of work, out of luck, and the spitting image of the man Lanie described. He needs money for his daughter’s art school tuition, and Lanie needs a convenient spouse. It’s a match made… well, not quite in heaven, but for a temporary arrangement, it couldn’t be better. Except the longer Lanie and Nick spend as husband and wife, the more the connection between them begins to seem real. Maybe this modern fairy tale really could come true…

My Review

The concept of this story was great and I absolutely loved the two main characters. Lainie is just trying to get through her life by pleasing everyone through the lies she has built up, but she didn’t see the impact her lies would eventually have. Her quirky Aunt decides that she will shake up Lainie’s life after she passes away and her will is read. Now Lainie has to try and find a fake husband or face losing her childhood home and the inheritance that her aunt was leaving her. Enter Nick McKane……. the hot line cook that is recently out of work and trying to find a way to support his daughter’s art school tuition.

Nick and Lanie’s characters were great. I especially loved Nick, and I really connected to his character. He was loyal, sexy, a great cook, and would do anything for Lainie. Lainie was a little harder for me to connect to, but I did really love her character. They complimented each other nicely. The small town romance of this story was sweet, and Charmed Texas was interesting, especially with the honey festival.

The only thing that I didn’t like as much with this book was the long drawn out drama. In some instances it felt like Lainie just needed to come to her senses and do something sooner instead of her drawing it out. Also I really disliked some of the side characters. I know we are meant to not like them, but some of the drama from these characters was a little too over the top for me. (mostly Lainie’s ex Alex and his wife.)

All in all this was a good book, and I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series! Definitely can’t wait for Carmen’s story!

Edge of Brotherhood by Molly E. Lee

I have been a fan of Molly Lee since Edge of Chaos first came out and it blew me away! Her Love on the Edge series is filled with adventure, romance, and all around awesomeness. The other thing I love about this series is all of the women are strong, independent, and feisty. They are equals to their men, not seen as less or more fragile like a lot of romances out there. Each guy mentions in the books how strong their women are, and how they can do things even better then they can, and I LOVE that! These guys are total Alphas, but their women are Alphas too 😉 Each book this series gets better and better, and Edge of Brotherhood didn’t disappoint!

Book Description

What do Dash Lexington, Easton Wells, and Connell Murphey have in common?

They put their lives on the line each day they clock into work. That and their fierce love for the women who match them step for step.

When the studio head who produces both Dash and Easton’s shows announces auditions for a special series to highlight the E.D.G.E men’s skills, Connell and an extreme stunt man named Wade Roberts are the first stars chosen.

Their objective? Accompany Easton deep in the Amazon where he’s recently discovered the lost city of Paititi. With half the structure submerged in dangerous waters, a slew of unpredictable rainforest storms, and a nearly inaccessible location, each man will have to put aside his alpha tendencies and utilize his skills in order to survive the perils of the City of Gold.

But when an enemy from Easton’s past threatens the love of his life, she is met with the wrath of the newly formed E.D.G.E. clan, who will stop at nothing to protect the women they love.

My Review

Molly Lee is one of my favorite authors. Her stories are full of adventure, and romance, and amazingly strong and independent women, but the thing I love most is how amazing her characters are! We meet all of the E.D.G.E. guys (besides Wade) in their own books earlier in the series, and I love how she wrote a book to bring them all together! We get to see P.O.V. from all 4 of them throughout the book and I loved that!

When Easton, Rain, Dash, Connell, and Wade set out to explore the Lost city of Paititi they know it will be dangerous, but they have no idea what they will have to face from an old enemy of Easton’s. The entire time I was reading this book I couldn’t put it down. There was so much going on, and the scenes and settings were so descriptive you felt like a movie reel was playing in your head. Yes this book is a romance, but it is SO MUCH MORE! The only thing I wish is that Blake and Sadie were in the book more, (I mean how does Easton get to be the lucky guy to bring his girl along 😉 but hopefully if/when she does another group book like this we will get to see more of them. Otherwise I loved every minute of this book!

The way all of the guys formed a tight brotherly bond was great too. Wade is the joker, the one who hides his darkness through his mask of humor. Connell is the silent broody type, but you can see how much more he opens up in this book, and he forms a tight bond with Wade because of what happened to them both. Easton is the strong leader of the bunch, and Dash is the white knight always looking out for everyone. By the end of the book they are brothers and their journey together was amazing!

At the very end we get a teaser of Wade’s book Edge of Regret, and now I am dying to get my hands on that because I loved Wade’s character and I want to know what/who is haunting his past.

All in all this book was excellent! The writing style was great, characters were wonderful, and I would highly recommend the entire series!
