Book Description

Jaxson
I had it all. A loving wife, an amazing daughter, and a thriving career that would make anyone envious. Yet, in a blink of an eye, it all changed. My family, hopes, and dreams were gone, leaving me alone to pick up the pieces of my shattered life.
Every day was a struggle to breathe, a constant reminder of what I had lost. I became bitter and angry, alienating my family and friends. I convinced myself that I would never find happiness again.
Until my eyes were opened to Destiny.
She became the light in my life and brightened my darkness.

Destiny
Being a single mom was tough on its own; working three twelve-hour shifts a week while trying to maintain my farm on top of that meant there was no room in my life for a man. I thought I had it all under control.
Until my job brought Jaxson into my life.
He was a lost, suffering soul, but something drew my heart to his. My farm offered him a sanctuary to recover and rebuild his life. He wasn’t ready for what I had to offer, and I wasn’t sure I was prepared to completely let him in, but fate had a greater plan for us.
He’s my future, and I am his. Together, we will discover what his future holds.

My Review

I’ve read all the books from K. L. Myers Second Chances series, and I really think Rediscovering His Future has been my favorite so far.

This story had so much emotion throughout, and you couldn’t help but feel for everything that Jaxon was going through. He went from having it all, a loving wife and daughter, and a great career as a bull rider to nothing in the blink of an eye. When Jaxon meets Destiny, he’s angry, heartbroken, and despondent, but she slowly breaks through to him.

Seriously, this story was heartbreaking, but heartwarming at the same time. Jaxon was a rough character. He’s so angry at the hand he’s been dealt, he lashes out at everyone and pushes everyone away. He goes from being this alpha male, to having to rely on people just to be able to get around. As he starts to go through the stages of grief, Destiny is there for him as a friend, and it grows into so much more.

There were some really great scenes throughout the book. One that really stuck out to me the most was toward the end of the book when he goes to visit his wife’s gravesite. It was just such a well written and emotional scene. All the feels were there and it really got to me.

I’d highly recommend this one. It’s an emotional read, but so worth it!

Read an Exclusive Excerpt!

If someone came to you today and said write your eulogy what would you say? Mine is simple, and it would go something like this.

Jaxson James Bennett, 70, of Houston, passed away on May 5, 2055, in Dallas Texas.

Jaxson is survived by the love of his life, and high school sweetheart Rosie Lynn, his children, Penny Sue and Lucas James of Houston Texas and his sister Rylee Ellington of Phoenix, Arizona. He had five grandchildren, Marcus, Cindy, Cathrine, Cody, and Patrick….

At least that is how I always dreamed my obituary would read. Little did I know at the time that when it would be time to truly write my obituary, it would be nothing like the above.

My story never played out the way I dreamed it would, yes I married the love of my life right out of high school and Rosie and I did have a daughter Penny, but that is where the similarities ended.

I wish I had an idea of what I would say now if I were asked to write it all over again but I have no clue how it would read, and honestly, I have no desire to even think about it.

Am I strong enough to take on the Wolf?

IMG_0030

My Review

Wow….. where to start?

I’ve read all of Belle Brooks books, and this one was a complete 180 from anything she has done, and I really loved it. It’s nice to see an author that can write within very different genres and still have a huge impact on the reader and feeling of the story. This was a short novella that will be part of a series, and it left me hanging and wanting to know what the heck was going to happen next.

This isn’t some cute or romantic love story, this is straight up horror. It kind of reminded me of the Saw series, or The Most Dangerous Game by Richard Connell (you know, the one we all get to read in high school lit class, or at least we did in my school). It was suspenseful, it was creepy, it left you wanting to know who “the wolf” was and what Morgan did to end up being his 13th player in his game of torture. The characters were well developed for being a novella and you know they will be expanded upon in later books.

This was definitely a great read and I am looking forward to seeing where she goes with it. The “wolf” was an intriguing character, and I am interested to see who he turns out to be, and why he was targeting his victims.

Can’t wait for the next one!

Just an Illusion – EP by D. Kelly

RB Banner

D. Kelly was a new to me author. I found the Just an Illusion series through Give Me Books PR when I was looking at their sign ups for the month. The blurb sounded interesting, and when I signed up I was also given a copy of the first 2 books of the series to read first. Let me tell you, this series completely threw me for a loop. By the end of the last book I was an emotional wreck. Out of the 500+ books I’ve read in the last 2-3 years, there’s been maybe 10 that have made me cry, 4 of those made me ugly cry. THIS one……… oh it was an ugly cry. You know you’ve found an amazing author when they can elicit that type of an emotional response out of the reader.

Just an Illusion – EP is book three in The Illusion Series

My Review

This whole series was an emotional roller coaster, but this one…….. this one made me an emotional wreck. I went into this series blind, and it was one of the most emotional stories I have read.

You want to talk about an ugly cry? This book seriously ruined me. I started the book and I was crying, the middle of the book I was crying, the end of the book I was crying. There were really happy parts of the book, and there were devastating parts of the book. I’m not going to give anything else away though. Just know that this author put so much emotion into these characters and this story. Their pain is your pain. Their happiness is your happiness. It was one of those series that will stick with you.

The one big take away from this book was “Live today like there’s no tomorrow”. Seriously, this book really makes you think about family and loved ones and how you need to cherish each moment you have with them.

Read this series, you’re emotions will be crazy, and you will most likely cry ugly tears, but the story was so amazing and so worth it.

Edge of Regret by Molly E. Lee

IMG_0078

Molly Lee has become one of my favorite authors. The adventure and excitement in her stories captures your imagination, and you always feel like you are right there in the story! Her characters are always amazingly written, and her female heroines can kick some major ass. If you love adventure, romance, and some badassery, you need to check out Molly’s books!

Book Description

Leading man on the new E.D.G.E. series reality show? Check.

Stunt-double for the star in the latest, multi-million-dollar funded military movie? Check.

Work with a sexy female military expert? Holy hell, check.

When I signed on to do stunts for Hollywood’s eagerly awaited war-thriller, I thought it would be like every other gig—go in, try not to get killed, and leave with a fat check and an adrenaline rush. This time? Not so much.

Mackenzie Patterson is the on-set expert. She knows topographical layouts, government lingo, speaks four languages, and is one of the best explosive disposal leaders the Air Force has ever seen, so she’s more than qualified.

She’s also the woman who turned my teenage heart to ash.

I can’t ignore the darkness that has appeared in her eyes, or the urge I have to take it away.

Quitting isn’t an option, but the more I see her, the more I want to make her mine. And that can never happen because our past is twisted with heartbreak, hate, and regret.

Every second I spend with her is a battle between holding on to the anger in my heart—and giving in to the love that never left.

IMG_0076

My Review

After reading the entire Edge of Love series, Wade’s story has become on of my favorites. (Connell is still my man though 😉 But Wade is a very close second!) I’d been looking forward to this story since we got a excerpt at the end of Edge of Brotherhood for it, and I knew Wade’s story was going to be a heart breaker!

This story had so many emotions playing throughout it. One minute I’d be happy and laughing at a scene, next minute I’d be cursing at my kindle and fuming mad, then the next minute I’d be heartbroken. I went through all the emotions with this book.

We finally get to see Wade’s backstory that was hinted at in Edge of Brotherhood, and it just wrecked me when we find out what happened between him and his brother. Mackenzie was pretty much a badass. She’s in the Air Force as an EOD (she diffuses and disposes of bombs), and now she has been sent to be the military expert on the movie set that Wade is working on.

One of the things I really love about Molly’s books is the way that all her female characters a strong, and brave, and they completely kick ass! They can keep up with their men and the guys know it and acknowledge it. They know their women are strong and are proud of that.

I can’t wait for the next book in this series! (And PLEASE let it be about Casey! He needs his own book!)

Stay by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy

IMG_0081

Sarina Bowen is one of my favorite authors. I’ve read almost every single book written by her, and there’s not 1 that I haven’t loved. Keepsake, her True North series book #3, is one of my favorite books and has my favorite main male character of all time. When Sarina and Elle paired up to create Him and Us, I fell in love with all of the characters and was so excited to see they were doing a spin off series, WAG’s (Wives and Girlfriends). So far this series has been amazing and I can’t wait to see who’s book is next!

Book Description

Can you fall in love with someone you’ve never even met?

Hailey Taylor Emery has a hunch that her favorite client at Fetch—an anonymous virtual assistant service—is actually hockey star Matt Eriksson.

Although it’s against the rules for her to check his file, she’s 95% sure she spends at least part of each day texting with her lifelong crush and catering to his every need. Still nursing a wounded heart thanks to her recent breakup, Hailey is perfectly content with some harmless online flirting… until she has to meet her client. Face to face. Cue: utter panic.

Matt Eriksson is no stranger to heartbreak. He’s still not over the destruction of his marriage, and it sucks to be the only guy on the team who knows the truth—that hockey and long-term relationships are a toxic mix. He barely sees his kids, and dealing with his ex makes him feel insane. The only person in his life who seems to understand is someone who won’t show her pretty face.

But it’s nothing that a pair of fourth row hockey seats can’t fix. Hailey can’t resist the offer. Matt can’t resist Hailey. Good thing he doesn’t have to. Fire up the kiss cam!

Warning: Contains rabid hockey fans, misunderstood dick pics, hockey players at the opera and exploding ovaries.

My Review

Sarina Bowen has always been one of my favorite authors. I absolutely loved Him and Us, and when her and Elle started the spin off series WAGs I was so excited. Good Boy was amazing, so I was really looking forward to the next book Stay, and let me tell you, it didn’t disappoint!

Stay follows the story of Matt and Hailey. It was funny, and I mean there were some hilarious parts in this book I just couldn’t stop laughing at. It was super sweet, it was sexy, and I loved every minute of it! We get to see some of our favorite characters from previous books (especially Blake Riley, he’s crazy but you have to love him) and of course Wes and Jamie.

The whole plot line of the story was really unique, especially the company that Hailey runs. I loved the way they had a slow building relationship, and how they finally meet in person for the first time. I also liked getting to see more of the Wives and Girlfirends in this book too. They are a crazy bunch of ladies, but they are a family that sticks together and helps one another. Plus they are hilarious!

I definitely couldn’t put this book down. Hot hockey players, sweet romance, hilarious scenes, and unique story make this one book not to miss! Highly recommend!

The Line Teaser

My Review

This was a really sweet story. It was set in Georgia, at a peach orchard, and I loved the characters and the storyline. The settings were beautiful, and you could really picture the scenery by the wonderful descriptions throughout the book.

Cole and Everly had a unique story. I loved the way the way they first meet and the way they reconnect years later. When Cole first meets Everyly, he is the one to help her, and then when they reconnect, she is the one that helps him. It was really sweet the way they rebuilt their relationship. It was emotional the things they both had to go through, but the way their relationship played out was romantic and tugged on your heartstrings.

The secondary characters were all great too; Joe, Momma Lou, and Missy. And Cody…….. oh how I loved Cody! The small side plot with him was so adorable! He was one of my favorites of the story 🙂 I also loved how it was set at the ranch, and all the scenes with the horses (because I’m a huge horse lover).

All in all this was a great read. If you love cowboys, sweet romance, and second chances, you’ll love this one 🙂

Check out this excerpt from the book!

How could it be so damn hot at seven in the morning? I wasn’t sure, but it was. Even in a thin tank, cut-off shorts, and my boots, I was melting. I stood at the top of a ladder Cole had placed against a tree so that we could reach the peaches up top. I used the rubber band on my wrist and tied my hair into a knot at the top of my head, hoping that it helped.

Cole climbed up behind me on the ladder and stood a couple of rungs below, but still, he towered over my small frame.

“Okay?” he asked.

“Yep,” I answered, even though I wasn’t okay. He was so close, and that familiar earthy, smoke smell I loved almost as much as rocky road invaded my senses.

“Good.” He looked at the peaches. “Alrighty. You see the ones that have that pink color?” He motioned to a cluster of fruit in front of us.

I nodded, trying not to breathe in too much. Because Jesus, he smelled delicious.

“Those look ripe and done. The paler ones behind them don’t look ready yet.”

I nodded again, and Cole grabbed my hand. He pressed his fingers in, wrapping both of our hands around a peach. He pushed the tips of his fingers into mine at the top of the fruit, near the stem.

“Feel the give, how it feels soft there?”

I squeezed my fingers around the stem again without his help and said, “Yep. Feels softer there.”

He smiled down at me. “Good. That’s also a sign it’s ripe for picking. But be gentle. They bruise easily.”

Cole’s front pressed closer to my back, and I shivered. The way Cole taught me to do things here was pure torture. It was also outright ecstasy. I lived for these moments as much as I loathed them. Because the man was a damn tease. He’d sent me back to the big house a sweaty, panting mess more times than I could count, my panties drenched.

He gently squeezed our hands around the peach and twisted and pulled. The peach came free, my tiny hand gripped it and his big, rough hand wrapped around mine. He brought our hands to my face and pressed the peach closer to my nose.

“How does it smell?” he asked in my ear.

I wanted to say, “I don’t know. I can’t smell a damn thing but your smoke and leather, and I don’t want to.”

Instead, I closed my eyes. I pressed my nose right up against the peach and concentrated on the smell.

“Sweet,” I said, my eyes still closed.

Our hands moved, and I felt the peach at my lips. My heart hammered and fire raced across my skin, and it had absolutely nothing to do with the weather.

Cole positioned himself even closer, and it seemed, in that moment, that every breath he took sucked up every bit of air in the atmosphere.

My own breath quickened, and a growl rumbled low in Cole’s chest.

“Taste it,” he whispered in my ear, his lips so close that I was sure he could taste me on them.

I opened my mouth and wrapped my lips around the fruit, the fuzzy skin tickling my lips. I bit down, and that rumble I heard from Cole made an appearance again. I moaned as I pressed my teeth to the fruit, the juicy sweetness of the peach sliding over my tongue.

“So good,” I groaned as Cole pulled our hands and the peach back. A little juice rolled down my chin and I attempted to lift my free hand to wipe it.

“I got it,” Cole said, brushing his hand over my chin, slowly picking the juice up with his finger, and ever-so-Goddamn-enticingly placing his finger in his mouth before sucking it clean like it was the best thing he’d ever put in his mouth.

“Delicious,” he said, his hooded eyes on mine as he popped his finger out of his mouth.

And fuck me. I swayed on that ladder, my own eyes closing as I willed my cowboy to kiss me with every breath I took. I made myself only will this about once a day, so I thought I was doing pretty good.

He brought our hands holding the peach to his mouth. He wrapped his mouth around it, his lips brushing my fingers, and I felt it deep in my core. I pressed my thighs together and swallowed a moan.

“Perfect,” he said, staring into my eyes. He held my gaze for a moment more before shaking his head and letting my hand, which was still clasped around the peach, go. Then he stepped off the ladder like he hadn’t just made sweet, sweet love to that peach with his mouth right here in front of me.

I watched him walk off to another tree, place a ladder against it, and climb up like nothing in the world had happened. I kicked the rung of the ladder and turned back to the tree. Damn peach molester.

L. H. Cosway has become one of my all time favorite authors! Her Hearts series has been absolutely amazing, and I have fallen in love with these characters. Every time she’s around him her heart feels full of air, like a balloon about to pop. Little does she know, Trev’s feelings are just as tumultuous as hers. One thing’s for sure, these three weeks on the road together will either make them whole again or break them irrevocably.

My Review

I have been following this series forever, and this one is definitely bittersweet being the last book of the Hearts series, but it was absolutely amazing!

Trevor has probably become one of my favorite characters out of the Cross family. You could see the sparks building between Reya and him throughout some of the other books, and it was great to FINALLY see what happens between them! They were both unique and interesting characters, Reya a struggling musician, Trevor a parkour athelete making it big with his TV series. You could feel the tension between these two, and the journey they share together was heartbreaking and emotional. The feelings just flowed through the pages.

The story sucked me in, and felt like it was over too soon, even though it was a pretty long book. The parkour scenes were great, I loved all of the side characters, and was SUPER excited to see there would be a spin off series featuring the members of the TV series Trevor is on!

I think one of my favorite things about this particular book though was the ending. The way she brought the series fully around and linked the timelines together was perfect! I’m not going to give anything away, but the guy Trevor becomes besties with at the end mad me squee out loud, and I was SO happy!

L. H. Cosway has created another amazing story, and I highly recommend you read Hearts on Air, actually go and read the ENTIRE series, because every single one of these books have been excellent! One of my favorite series hands down!
