Written in the Scars by Adriana Locke

I had heard of Adriana Locke before, but had never read any of her books, so when I saw sign ups for Bloggers for her newest book I jumped at the chance, and I am SO happy I did. I now have another favorite author to add to my list. This book was so amazing, and her writing style grabbed you and sucked you into the story.

And just a side note…… I even got my husband to read this one, and he really liked it. (And he NEVER reads romance….. like ever). Just a warning though, there will be emotions…… and lots of them. This book completely made me ugly cry, and I can count the number of times I have ugly cried over a book on one hand.

Book Description

Falling in love is easy.

Falling out of love is the hardest thing in the world.

And Elin and Ty Whitt are terrible at it.

The first time the local basketball star smiled at Elin, she was a goner. It was just so damn easy to fall for the dark-haired hometown hero with his charming smile and strong, athletic build.

Thousands of sleepy smiles, aimless drives down country roads, and squeaks of the backdoor after a swing shift later, reality hits. And it hits hard. Falling in love was definitely the easy part. Watching it break apart was impossible.

Through the tears, the second-guesses, the memories of a life built together, the world keeps spinning. With each turn comes clarity and hope—sometimes in the form of a pair of muddy boots by the back door or from the words of a wise friend.

When Ty shows back up with a new found determination to put his family back together, Elin’s torn between the fights of the past and the possibility of a new start. This is the man that holds her heart, the man she loves beyond anything else. But this is also the one person in the world that can cause her the most pain.

Life’s not always easy. Love’s not for the faint of heart. But with life comes lessons and Ty and Elin have the scars to prove it. But it’s their love written in those scars that will hold them together … or break them apart.

My Review

This story was absolutely amazing. It’s a story of second chances and learning that love will always find a way. This book was so beautifully written, and so deeply emotional, my heart still has not recovered fully from it yet. When I read books with a lot of emotions, I’ll feel sad for the characters, but I never cry or outwardly express emotions when I’m reading, I just read. I can count on one hand the times I’ve ever cried while reading a book. This book turned me into a complete blubbering mess! It was ugly crying at it’s finest. This is when you know you have read a book by an outstanding author, when they can make you connect to their characters on such a deep level that it elicits such strong emotions in the reader.

Adriana Locke was able to create characters that you could truly connect to, even secondary characters. This book had me hooked from the first few pages. I was up until all hours to finish it, and when I finally finished it, I couldn’t sleep because I was still thinking about the story.

I don’t want to say anything about the plot. When you read this, you should just let the story pull you in and speak for itself. There will be ups and downs, there will be so many emotions you will have while reading this, you will fall in love with these characters, and you will not want to let go.

This is a book I will read again and again. I highly recommend it, and I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did.

My Rating: 5 stars!!!
