I am SO excited to be a part of the promotion for Lucas! Jay McLean is one of my favorite authors, and when my blog was selected to receive an ARC for review I was ecstatic! I absolutely love the More Than series, so when I heard there was going to be a spin-off series about Lucy’s brothers I wanted to get my hands on it!
Lucas is a stand alone, but….. it’s great to read the More Than series to really see where everything started. There’s a few characters that pop up (I’m not gonna say who) and I’m the type of person who just HAS to read stuff like that first 😉 So if you’re a little OCD about reading like I am, go read the More Than series too!
In a sprint, every millisecond counts.
When you’re waiting for love, those milliseconds can feel like eons.
High school senior Lucas Preston has it all: star of the track team, a scholarship waiting for him, an apartment to himself and a revolving door of girlfriends. He also has an older sister, five younger brothers and a father who relies on him to make sure those brothers don’t kill each other.
His saving grace? Lois “Laney” Sanders, a girl he started to fall in like with when he was just eleven.
A girl who became his best friend, his confidant, his courage.
It took only sixteen clicks and eight seconds for Lucas to realize that his like for Laney had turned into love.
Eight life-changing seconds.
It’s also the exact length of time it took to lose her.
I have been waiting for this book since I first heard Jay was writing it. The More Than series is one of my all time favorite series, so when I heard there was going to be a spin off with Lucy’s brothers I was so excited! This book was absolutely amazing, and I fell in love with all of the Preston brothers. The writing just sucks you in, and I stayed up all night reading when I got my copy of it.
I think one of my favorite things about this book was all of the brothers. They are a close knit family, and each brother had a different personality. Sometimes with so many characters personality traits can kind of blend into each other and side characters don’t get developed as much, but when Jay created these characters, she really put so much detail into them all and they really came alive to the reader. I am really looking forward to getting more books about these guys! (I especially loved the youngest brother Lachlan, he was just adorable and was such a scene stealer!)
This story was sweet, it was heartbreaking, it had so many emotions playing throughout the book. It had me completely mesmerized and I couldn’t put it down. I loved Laney’s character, and the things she goes through broke my heart. It was all around an unforgettable book and one I will read over and over. After reading this one I want to go back and read the whole More Than series again.
I highly recommend this book!
