So, if you don’t know already Molly Lee is one of my favorite authors. Her adventure romance series is seriously the best out there. I haven’t read anything close to comparison yet. Her character development, scene set up, and setting descriptions make you feel like you are IN the book alongside the characters. You really need to read these books because they won’t disappoint!
Easton Wells has spent years burying his guilt by digging up some of the world’s most renowned treasures while surviving the dangerous terrains in which they’re located—all captured for television. When his producers threaten to axe the show, he has no choice but to turn to the last person he still trusts—the girl he left behind.
Rain Walker has made a name for herself documenting wild and endangered animals, and the last voice she expects to hear while shooting in South Africa is Easton’s. He’s more gorgeous than she remembers, but the pain in her heart is as fresh as ever. They’d once planned on spending the rest of their lives together, but after her father’s tragic death while on expedition in Israel with him, Easton bailed on their future together without an explanation. It’s been nine years, and yet the intense love they shared seems only a moment ago.
When he asks her to film his latest treasure hunt, Rain wants to turn him down instantly. But when he explains it’s to the same cave that swallowed her father, she can’t say no. She wants to experience the last place her father was alive, and she’s beyond curious about what happened to the boy she used to love.
They’ve got two weeks to locate a treasure that’s been lost for centuries, or Easton will lose the one thing in his life he’s come to depend on. As their old passion is reignited—and dark secrets uncovered—they face the extreme terrain of the mountain range that threatens them at every turn. As more than the wildlife and sharp drop-offs tries to kill them, Rain starts to question if the legendary treasure they seek—the same one her father had died trying to unearth—is truly meant to be found, or if some things, including their feelings for each other, are better left buried.
I fell in love with Molly Lee’s adventurous writing style when I first read Edge of Chaos, and she blew that out of the water with East of Redemption. This book had a little bit of everything. Adventure, danger, survival, treasure hunting, and romance all rolled into one. It was like Indiana Jones meets contemporary romance! I loved it!
The thing I think I love most about these books, is that Molly writes such a strong female heroine. Rain is a nature photographer that braves the wild to get pictures of animals in their natural habitats all over the world. When she pairs up with Easton to save his career they both use their survival skills to look for King Solomon’s Treasure in a cave in Israel.
The book was fast paced, and the character development was complex and and intriguing. The whole back story of Rain’s father/Easton’s mentor was sad, yet a great set up for the plot of the book. The emotions that Easton is dealing with and the guilt he felt over what happened flowed through the pages, and you could really connect to what he was going through. When he finally reconnects with Rain you can see how much he cares for her yet doesn’t think he deserves her forgiveness for what he did. The emotions just tugged on my heartstrings and I loved these characters.
Seriously, I couldn’t put this book down. This series is fantastic, and one that I will read over and over again! Highly recommend this one!
