Slime Spewing Vampire Velociraptors is the second book of Kat’s Moto Maddie BMX Portal series. These books are great for middle school aged kids, or just adults that are young at heart and want to read some goofy kids books. (Because if you know me you know I’m seriously a 5 year old at heart 😉 I loved Flying Mutant Zombie Rats, so I was definitely looking forward to Vampire Velociraptors!
When Pea opened a portal and the alien cat, Max Gigan, jumped through from another dimension, he certainly didn’t expect the talking tomcat to stay on as a family pet. He soon learns it can come in handy to have a fur ball from an alternate universe around when his friend re-opens the portal letting in vampire velociraptors who want to slime and eat the whole city! Pea’s dad is one of the first infected. But his dear old dad isn’t the only one. The dinosaurs escape the museum where the portal opened, and rampage through Milwaukee. As Pea’s dad gets sicker, the BMX gang joins together with the feline army to corner the raptors and use them to develop an antidote. But Pea’s meddling step-monster brothers threaten to ruin everything! A city wide alert goes out for the misidentified “turkeys” while Pea and his gang try to stay ahead of the hunt. Can the kids capture the dinos and get them home before they control everyone with their vampire powers? Will Pea’s dad remain infected forever? Join Pea and his gang in their battle against the SLIME SPEWING VAMPIRE VELOCIRAPTORS.
I am totally a little kid at heart, and I highly enjoyed this story. Not only is it highly entertaining, but I love how actual science facts are used throughout the story. Plus the main characters are really great and show a great bond of friendship and helping others.
Pea and his gang are back again, and craziness ensues when Jules accidentally opens a portal letting vampire velocirapotors into our dimension, and what I really loved is how they were the ACTUAL version of raptors, a small feathered creature, not the Hollywood version we always see in movies. Also the science and theory behind their crazy slime was great as well. Kids can learn some awesome science while reading this one 🙂
The chase around Milwaukee was great and my FAVORITE part of the whole book was the baseball scene! You will have to read it to find out why 😉 But I seriously couldn’t stop laughing and had to read the whole scene to my husband because I just couldn’t NOT share it. I also loved the herd of cats that come to the rescue again.
All in all this was a really entertaining read as well as educational. I mean come one….. in one scene you learn how to make a blacklight using sharpies and flashlights 😉
