Beverly was one of the authors I reviewed for Madtown Author Daze and while I was there I picked up book #2 of The Santiago’s series, A Sailor’s Delight! I loved A Saint’s Salvation and was excited to jump into book #2!

Book Description

Lee Santiago went from one mistake to the next. When a friend dies, exposing his mortality all too well Lee’s family steps in to force him to make something of himself. He can’t be a party boy all his life and if he wants to sign his life away, it will be on the dotted line. He doesn’t even have time to say goodbye. Anyway it was only a drunken one night stand.

Isabelle was always the good girl. Until that night. When the man she’d always worshiped finally noticed her. She couldn’t say no. She’s heartsick to find out he doesn’t remember it. Isabella’s life crashes around her when the results are in. The truth comes out and she has nowhere to turn. She looks for Lee, but he’s gone.

Will he be man enough to step up and face the consequences when he learns the truth?

My Review

I really liked both of the main characters in this book. Lee was a punk, a guy that lost his job because he was too busy partying and didn’t care about where he went in life. When he realizes that his lifestyle has gotten out of hand and how badly his family is affected by it he knows it’s time to make a change. I loved how he really stepped up and tried to change his life around, and also how he dealt with the turn of events with Isabelle. I loved how they both connected once Lee was away at training and school.

When Isabelle finds out she is pregnant and finds out that Lee isn’t around anymore or where he is it was heartbreaking. She has no idea how he’s going to take the news that he’s going to be a father. When she finally reconnects with him though, it’s  really sweet.

The only thing that threw me off is some areas of the story just seemed too long and drawn out. Otherwise this was a really great read and I would definitely recommend it!
