Just an Illusion – EP by D. Kelly

RB Banner

D. Kelly was a new to me author. I found the Just an Illusion series through Give Me Books PR when I was looking at their sign ups for the month. The blurb sounded interesting, and when I signed up I was also given a copy of the first 2 books of the series to read first. Let me tell you, this series completely threw me for a loop. By the end of the last book I was an emotional wreck. Out of the 500+ books I’ve read in the last 2-3 years, there’s been maybe 10 that have made me cry, 4 of those made me ugly cry. THIS one……… oh it was an ugly cry. You know you’ve found an amazing author when they can elicit that type of an emotional response out of the reader.

My Review

This whole series was an emotional roller coaster, but this one…….. this one made me an emotional wreck. I went into this series blind, and it was one of the most emotional stories I have read.

You want to talk about an ugly cry? This book seriously ruined me. I started the book and I was crying, the middle of the book I was crying, the end of the book I was crying. There were really happy parts of the book, and there were devastating parts of the book. I’m not going to give anything else away though. Just know that this author put so much emotion into these characters and this story. Their pain is your pain. Their happiness is your happiness. It was one of those series that will stick with you.

The one big take away from this book was “Live today like there’s no tomorrow”. Seriously, this book really makes you think about family and loved ones and how you need to cherish each moment you have with them.

Read this series, you’re emotions will be crazy, and you will most likely cry ugly tears, but the story was so amazing and so worth it.
