The Darkest Sunrise by Aly Martinez

I have read so many of Aly’s books, and they have all been amazing! The Darkest Sunrise is no different, but it might be one of my favorites now. Porter and Charlotte had such an emotional relationship, and I loved reading their story. Can’t wait until The Brightest Sunset is out!

Book Description

Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never harm me.
Whoever coined that phrase is a bald-faced liar. Words are often the sharpest weapon of all, triggering some of the most powerful emotions a human can experience.
“You’re pregnant.”
“It’s a boy.”
“Your son needs a heart transplant.”
Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never harm me.
Syllables and letters may not be tangible, but they can still destroy your entire life faster than a bullet from a gun.
Two words—that was all it took to extinguish the sun from my sky.
“He’s gone.”
For ten years, the darkness consumed me.
In the end, it was four deep, gravelly words that gave me hope of another sunrise.
“Hi. I’m Porter Reese.”

My Review

I really enjoyed this book. Emotions were all over the place, and the story sucked me in from the first page.

It had a little of everything throughout the book. There were some really hilarious parts and I loved the funny texts and dialogue between Porter and Charlotte. There were also some really emotional and sad parts throughout the book. Two broken people finding solace in each other. It was just a beautiful story.

I could see that cliffhanger coming and could just see where it was going already, but it still had me on the edge of my seat. I can’t wait to read The Brightest Sunset next!

Aly Martinez always creates amazing stories, and this one was no different! Highly recommend!
