The dark net houses a playground for the morally depleted and criminally insane. When Lexi discovers the killer’s digital betting arena, she finds herself centered in a cyber stalker’s crosshairs bearing equal talent.
Street life strengthened Lexi while toughening her protective shell, but nothing could shield her from the shrewd detective forging a path to her heart.

My Review

I really enjoyed this book. It had suspense, mystery, romance, and some humor all wrapped up into one. The characters were interesting, and I felt a good connection to them, but I would have liked to know a little more about Lexi’s background then we find out in the story. Maybe we will see more in the next book of the series.

The story was great. It kept me interested and had me on the edge of my seat, but every once in a while there would be a drawn out scene that could have been shortened a little. The plot, characters (main and side) were great! The attention to detail was there and you could tell a lot of research went into the story.

I’d recommend reading the short novella prequel to this one, Tender Echoes. It was a quick and interesting read, and we find out how Lexi and Ethan have their first encounter. You don’t have to to enjoy Digital Velocity, but I’d highly recommend it to get the most out of the story.

All in all this was a great story. Looking forward to seeing where the series goes from here 🙂

Reily is a West Coast girl transplanted to the opposite shore. When she’s not working with her dogs, you can find her curled up with a book or writing her next story. Past employment as an ICU nurse, private investigator, and work in the military police has given her countless experiences in a host of different environments to add a real world feel to her fiction.
Over time, and several careers, many incidents have flavored the plots of her stories. Man’s cruelty and ingenuity for torment and torture is boundless, not contained by an infinite imagination. Witnessing the after-effects of a teenager mugged at knifepoint for a pair of tennis shoes, or an elderly woman stabbed repeatedly with a screwdriver for no apparent reason, left an indelible impression that will forever haunt her subconscious. In counterpoint, she’s observed a woman stop her vehicle in severe, snowy weather to offer her own winter coat to a stranger, a teenager wearing a threadbare hoodie. Life’s diversities are endless.
Though her kids are her life, writing is Reily’s life after. The one enjoyed after the kids are in bed or after they’re in school and the house is quiet. This is the time she kicks back with laptop and lapdog to give her imagination free rein.
In reading, take pleasure in a mental pause as you root for your favorite hero/heroine and bask in their accomplishments, then share your opinions of them over a coffee with your best friend (even if he’s four-legged). Life is short. Cherish your time.

Hello Forever by Sarina Bowen

Hello forever

Sarina Bowen is one of my absolute favorite authors! Goodbye Paradise was amazing, and Hello Forever was a great follow up in the series! This was a really sweet m/m romance. You definitely need to give this series a try!

Book Description

When they were only teenagers, Axel and Caxton were caught making out in the woods at church camp. And afterward, Cax had disappeared from all the youth group activities.

Six years later, Axel is astonished to spot his first love’s face in the crowd of a college basketball game he’s watching on TV—at a school which has just offered him a job. It’s a thousand miles away, in a tiny rural town. But suddenly, he can’t wait to get there.

Cax can’t believe his eyes when Axel appears in the same Massachusetts town where he now lives. And he’s still just as drawn to Axel as ever. But he can’t let himself go there again, because loving Axel will mean giving up everything else he holds dear.

Both men have so much to lose. But as far as their love is concerned, it’s Hello Forever.

My Review

Wow! Sarina Bowen does it again!

Hello Forever was such a great story. I’m always a sucker for a good m/m romance, and Sarina Bowen always delivers! I think out of this series Goodbye Paradise is still my favorite (because I absolutely love Caleb and Josh) but I really did love Axel and Caxton.

Their story was so emotional and I loved seeing how they meet again after not seeing each other since they were kids. I could connect to them and their story, and this book had all the emotions.

It was just an overall amazing story and I highly recommend it!

The Brightest Star Teaser 3

Book Description

The last thing Brighton Starling needed on one of the most humiliating days of her life was to run into her ex…

Naturally, she did. And two years after he walked away, leaving her hurt and broke, he somehow managed to look better than ever. Of course.

She didn’t want to see him, let alone speak to him, but apparently, he wasn’t going to give her a choice.

All Sebastian Figures wanted was to talk to the one that got away…

No, scratch that. The one he drove away with poor decisions and lies, big and small.

She might have been having a bad day, but she was still the bright, beautiful girl he’d been missing for far too long. His brightest star. Still the only girl he’d ever want. If only he could convince her of that.

Is it too late to say sorry?

Sebastian wants a chance to win back Brighton’s trust—and her future.
Brighton wants to be able to move on from the past, once and for all.

But neither of them want to say one final goodbye…

The Brightest Star Teaser 1

My Review

This was a really enjoyable book. I liked the characters, and the story was sweet. It was a second chance romance and learning to trust again after trust is lost.

Sebastian was a really great character. He had an addiction that tore apart his life and caused him to lose everything he cared about, and now he’s trying to right his wrongs. Brighton is the girl that he left behind, and she’s not sure she can trust him with her heart again. Their slow building relationship was really sweet, and I loved all the text conversations they had, some of them were really funny, and it was great dialogue.

The only issue I had was the very beginning of the book. It just jumped right into the day they meet again. It would have been nice to see some of the backstory first instead of how it was small flash backs here and there. It just felt like too abrupt of a start for me. Other than that I wish there was a little more interaction instead of so much text interactions. However I really loved the story so it was still a 4 star for me 🙂

Great characters, great story, great first book for this author! Would love to read more books by B. Cranford in the future!

B. Cranford is a proud Australian living in the USA, a lover of books, breadsticks and bed, and the mother of two children who are far too similar to their father for her liking. A lifelong reader, she dove into the romance genre on the recommendation of her best friend and hasn’t looked back since. Her debut novel, The Brightest Star, a second chance romance with (she hopes) heart and humor will be releasing on July 13, 2017, which just so happens to be her birthday. Because if you release a book on your birthday, you get twice as much cake, and that can only be a good thing.

The Darkest Sunrise by Aly Martinez

I have read so many of Aly’s books, and they have all been amazing! The Darkest Sunrise is no different, but it might be one of my favorites now. Porter and Charlotte had such an emotional relationship, and I loved reading their story. Can’t wait until The Brightest Sunset is out!

Book Description

Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never harm me.
Whoever coined that phrase is a bald-faced liar. Words are often the sharpest weapon of all, triggering some of the most powerful emotions a human can experience.
“You’re pregnant.”
“It’s a boy.”
“Your son needs a heart transplant.”
Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never harm me.
Syllables and letters may not be tangible, but they can still destroy your entire life faster than a bullet from a gun.
Two words—that was all it took to extinguish the sun from my sky.
“He’s gone.”
For ten years, the darkness consumed me.
In the end, it was four deep, gravelly words that gave me hope of another sunrise.
“Hi. I’m Porter Reese.”

My Review

I really enjoyed this book. Emotions were all over the place, and the story sucked me in from the first page.

It had a little of everything throughout the book. There were some really hilarious parts and I loved the funny texts and dialogue between Porter and Charlotte. There were also some really emotional and sad parts throughout the book. Two broken people finding solace in each other. It was just a beautiful story.

I could see that cliffhanger coming and could just see where it was going already, but it still had me on the edge of my seat. I can’t wait to read The Brightest Sunset next!

Aly Martinez always creates amazing stories, and this one was no different! Highly recommend!

One Fear Teaser 1

Book Description

“My one fear is now my reality.”

He didn’t offer his name when he fulfilled his need to include me as a player in his game.
I’m number thirteen. Just a number given to the bitches who wronged him.
I was blindsided. Stolen from my life. In his devilled eyes, I have a debt to pay…he wants my final breath to see us even.

“I know who you are Morgan Banks, the question is, who am I? Five games will set you free when you can tell me who I’d be.”- The Wolf.

Am I strong enough to take on the Wolf?

One Fear Teaser 2

My Review

 Wow….. where to start?

I’ve read all of Belle Brooks books, and this one was a complete 180 from anything she has done, and I really loved it. It’s nice to see an author that can write within very different genres and still have a huge impact on the reader and feeling of the story. This was a short novella that will be part of a series, and it left me hanging and wanting to know what the heck was going to happen next.

This isn’t some cute or romantic love story, this is straight up horror. It kind of reminded me of the Saw series, or The Most Dangerous Game by Richard Connell (you know, the one we all get to read in high school lit class, or at least we did in my school). It was suspenseful, it was creepy, it left you wanting to know who “the wolf” was and what Morgan did to end up being his 13th player in his game of torture. The characters were well developed for being a novella and you know they will be expanded upon in later books.

This was definitely a great read and I am looking forward to seeing where she goes with it. The “wolf” was an intriguing character, and I am interested to see who he turns out to be, and why he was targeting his victims.

Can’t wait for the next one!

Second Sight by Kat Green

Kat Green is the alias for Kat de Falla and Rachel Green. When these two team up, we get some awesomely creepy and interesting stories! Second Sight is the second book of the Haunts for Sale series, and I really loved this one! Can’t wait to see where they take the series from here!

Add Second Sight to your Goodreads.  Get it on Amazon

Book Description

Paranormal real estate agent, Sloane Osborne sells haunted houses. And she’s getting quite good at it. But not all hauntings are the same. Some are common manifestations but others are more sinister—dark and evil.

Called in to investigate a beach front home in charming Yarmouth, Maine, Sloane envies one couple’s happy future whereas hers has been ripped away. These days, she finds more comfort in hunting the dead than being among the living.

But this fairy tale New England home has a dark secret: the new owner has gone missing—inside the house. Is Sloane in over her head? When the local ghost hunting team gets involved, they make things worse, waking up a latent evil that refuses to be banished. Some ghosts do more than haunt houses—they fight back to inflict their own torment on the living.

My Review

This is the second book of the Haunts for Sale series following Sloane Osborne, a real estate agent that sells haunted houses. She’s also able to communicate with the dead. When I finished First Contact I was anxious to get my hands on the second one, and now that I’ve finished Second Sight……… I need book 3 PRONTO!

From the first chapter this book sucked me in. When Brian and Rin move into their new house, they don’t realize there are evil forces waiting to terrorize them. When Rin disappears, Sloane is called into to figure out what’s going on.

I seriously couldn’t put this book down. I had to know what was going on, and what was going to happen! The main character Sloane is awesome, and Jonah………. (JONAH……… Swoon!!! I love Jonah!) We finally get to see a little spark between these two, which I LOVED, and I loved the new side characters that were introduced, Whitney and Aunt Stephanie. The paranormal scenes were creepy and well written. I loved the attention to details throughout the book and the little hints dropped here and there.

All in all this book was great and I highly recommend it!

Kat Green is really the alias of authors KAT de Falla and Rachel GREEN.

Rachel Green has always believed in ghosts but saw her first full body apparition while working at an old movie theater in college. When she met Kat de Falla at a writer’s workshop, she knew she’d met a kindred spirit – one who was also sensitive to the hereafter. And after bonding on a few ghost adventures, Kat Green was born.

Kat lived in a haunted house for too long. When things really heated up, she had several paranormal teams investigate, but things only got worse. When her mother suggested they contact a shaman, she agreed to come, saying she had been waiting for Kat’s call. The home was cleansed and sold. When she paired up with Rachel Green, the idea of co-writing a book with a paranormal real estate agent seemed perfect.

With their combined paranormal “experiences”, they decided to combine their creative mojo. That’s when Sloane Osborne, Paranormal Real Estate agent, and the HAUNTS FOR SALE series was born.

Book Description

I had it all. A loving wife, an amazing daughter, and a thriving career that would make anyone envious. Yet, in a blink of an eye, it all changed. My family, hopes, and dreams were gone, leaving me alone to pick up the pieces of my shattered life.
Every day was a struggle to breathe, a constant reminder of what I had lost. I became bitter and angry, alienating my family and friends. I convinced myself that I would never find happiness again.
Until my eyes were opened to Destiny.
She became the light in my life and brightened my darkness.

Being a single mom was tough on its own; working three twelve-hour shifts a week while trying to maintain my farm on top of that meant there was no room in my life for a man. I thought I had it all under control.
Until my job brought Jaxson into my life.
He was a lost, suffering soul, but something drew my heart to his. My farm offered him a sanctuary to recover and rebuild his life. He wasn’t ready for what I had to offer, and I wasn’t sure I was prepared to completely let him in, but fate had a greater plan for us.
He’s my future, and I am his. Together, we will discover what his future holds.

My Review

I’ve read all the books from K. L. Myers Second Chances series, and I really think Rediscovering His Future has been my favorite so far.

This story had so much emotion throughout, and you couldn’t help but feel for everything that Jaxon was going through. He went from having it all, a loving wife and daughter, and a great career as a bull rider to nothing in the blink of an eye. When Jaxon meets Destiny, he’s angry, heartbroken, and despondent, but she slowly breaks through to him.

Seriously, this story was heartbreaking, but heartwarming at the same time. Jaxon was a rough character. He’s so angry at the hand he’s been dealt, he lashes out at everyone and pushes everyone away. He goes from being this alpha male, to having to rely on people just to be able to get around. As he starts to go through the stages of grief, Destiny is there for him as a friend, and it grows into so much more.

There were some really great scenes throughout the book. One that really stuck out to me the most was toward the end of the book when he goes to visit his wife’s gravesite. It was just such a well written and emotional scene. All the feels were there and it really got to me.

I’d highly recommend this one. It’s an emotional read, but so worth it!

Read an Exclusive Excerpt!

If someone came to you today and said write your eulogy what would you say? Mine is simple, and it would go something like this.

Jaxson James Bennett, 70, of Houston, passed away on May 5, 2055, in Dallas Texas.

Jaxson is survived by the love of his life, and high school sweetheart Rosie Lynn, his children, Penny Sue and Lucas James of Houston Texas and his sister Rylee Ellington of Phoenix, Arizona. He had five grandchildren, Marcus, Cindy, Cathrine, Cody, and Patrick….

At least that is how I always dreamed my obituary would read. Little did I know at the time that when it would be time to truly write my obituary, it would be nothing like the above.

My story never played out the way I dreamed it would, yes I married the love of my life right out of high school and Rosie and I did have a daughter Penny, but that is where the similarities ended.

I wish I had an idea of what I would say now if I were asked to write it all over again but I have no clue how it would read, and honestly, I have no desire to even think about it.
